How to Transfer Between Binance Spot and Funding Wallets?

Newcomers to Binance are often confused by the various wallets: Spot wallet, Funding wallet, Futures wallet... You clearly have crypto in your account, but get an "insufficient balance" message when trying to trade. That's because different features use different wallets, and you need to transfer funds between them first. Register on Binance for an account, download the Binance APP, and follow the steps below.

What Types of Wallets Does Binance Have?

Funding Wallet

Also called the "Funding Account," primarily used for:

  • C2C trading (buying and selling crypto)
  • Deposits and withdrawals
  • Red packets and transfers

Spot Wallet

Also called the "Trading Account," primarily used for:

  • Spot trading (buying and selling trading pairs)
  • Convert/swap

Other Wallets

There are also Futures wallets, Earn wallets, Margin wallets, etc. — different features correspond to different wallets.

Why Do You Need to Transfer?

Binance manages funds separately, with different features using funds from different wallets. For example:

  • You bought USDT via C2C — the funds are in your Funding wallet
  • You want to buy BTC on the spot market — you need to transfer USDT to your Spot wallet
  • You want to withdraw crypto to an external wallet — you need to transfer it back to your Funding wallet

Transfers are free and instant — the process is very simple.

How to Transfer

Method 1: From the Assets Page

  1. Open the APP and tap "Assets"
  2. Tap "Transfer"
  3. Select the source and destination wallets (e.g., "Funding Wallet to Spot Wallet")
  4. Select the coin
  5. Enter the amount
  6. Confirm the transfer

Method 2: Transfer Directly from the Trading Page

When you enter the trading page and see insufficient balance, there's usually a "Transfer" button. Tap it to transfer funds from other wallets directly.

Common Scenarios

Scenario 1: Want to Trade Spot After Buying via C2C

C2C purchase lands in Funding wallet -> Transfer to Spot wallet -> Trade on the spot market

Scenario 2: Want to Cash Out via C2C After Selling on Spot

USDT from selling is in Spot wallet -> Transfer to Funding wallet -> Sell via C2C

Scenario 3: Want to Trade Futures

USDT in Spot or Funding wallet -> Transfer to Futures wallet -> Start futures trading

Are There Transfer Fees?

No. Transfers between Binance's internal wallets are completely free and instant. You can transfer back and forth as often as you like without incurring any fees.

Tips

Build a habit: before trading, always check whether the corresponding wallet has sufficient balance. If you get an insufficient balance prompt, the first thing to think of is making a transfer — don't rush to buy more crypto.
